End Game Training: AfterBurn class.
I took a 9am class this past week at End Game Training. I have no idea with whom because she never introduced herself. The place was in the basement, with a strong gas smell from old pipes I'm assuming.
At 9:05 the girl from the front desk came over, put some laminated pieces of paper with exercises on them all over the floor, and then proceeded to explain what they were. She never introduced herself, asked us who we were, asked about injuries, talked about the class...nothing. She told us we were going through the exercises for 1 minute, 3 rounds. Then she told us to pick a station.
Absolutely NO WARM UP! I was floored. The entire time the class was going on, the girl looked bored to tears. She had her arms crossed, talked to other instructors, had no encouragement, no motivation, no energy whatsoever. It felt like I was at my own gym, doing my own thing.
At the end, she said, "There's foam rollers over there if you need them". And then walked away!! Again, shocked. I will not be returning to this class. Step your game up End Game.

Bikram Yoga NYC Flatiron:
I had an even worse experience at Bikram yoga. First, they nickel and dime the crap out of you. Charged for locks, towels, mats, lockers, and WATER. Yes. You had to pay to fill up your water bottle. Wtf?
The room you walk into is beautiful. Until you're faced with the awful, disgusting, armpit of a smell. The room was carpeted! I cannot even imagine how unsanitary that room is. People are in these classes at 105 degrees for 90 minutes, dripping sweat. Disgusting.
The class began, and this chick actually stopped to tell me to spit my gum out. I wasn't smacking it around. It was weird, but if it's something she thought might have been distracting then I'm fine with spitting it out.
A lot of the poses I disagreed with from a structural, kinesiology point of view. No thanks ma'am, I do not want to push my knees together and go into a squat on my toes. I spend 70% of my career getting people NOT to do that.
About 60 minutes in, I was dying. I had a pounding headache, I thought her voice and demeanor were condescending, and I simply wasn't feeling well or enjoying the class. I mouthed to her quietly that I was going to go, and she told me NO! She literally would not let me leave.
I'm all for keeping the heat in, and the experience consistent. But safety first people! The remaining 30 minutes I did the bare minimum and just tried not to pass out.
The locker room was packed, and I felt so dirty trying to take a shower and get out of there. I tweeted my displeasure with the class and got a response that "Bikram himself required carpet". And that they were working on changing the studios over to wood floor due to the complaints etc.
Bottom line, never going back to these studios again. I have done bikram yoga many times, and LOVE it at other places. This place....not so much.
