Drill Fitness Class Review

Hello!

Today I started my ClassPass monthly membership, which allows me to take unlimited classes all over the city for $99. It is a genius idea, and now that I am on the other side of it I wanted to make sure I review for everyone who is wanting to try. As a fitness instructor, the logistics of ClassPass are kind of a mess. But these reviews will be strictly as a member.

I took a Drill FIT class down in Tribeca. It was a midday class, and there were only about eight of us. I read multiple reviews before coming, and the main complaint was that the classes seemed over crowded. I have the advantage of taking midday classes, so this was not a problem for me.

The class was a typical HIIT class. A few circuits using Kettlebells, sandbags, dumbbells, and straps similar to the TRX. What I thought was great about the class, is they offer you a heart rate monitor when you check in. Sanitary freak aside, I could not get the damn thing to fit. I put it as tight as possible and it was still loose. It was bothering me the whole class, but not a huge deal. They had a large screen in the class where you could track your heart rate, intensity, and effort. I loved this. It motivated me to stay above a certain heart rate, and struck the competitive side in me because you could see everyone else's info as well. (It was all numbered, so no names or anything were displayed. So you could only see other's info if you knew their number, which is hidden inside the heart rate monitor strap).

The instructor was Justin, who I thought was very personable. He introducted himself, he did a great pep talk, and was definitely great a motivating. My biggest pet peeve of classes and being a trainer myself, is asking and knowing your members injuries. I have a lot, so I'd like you to know them if you're going to be walking around thinking I am a whimp or not doing something. I had to go up to him personally to tell him my injuries. It also seemed he did a few things on the fly. But for the most part, his personality was great, his music was great, and the vibe was pretty good.

The best part about the entire studio were their amenitites. Their studio is very nice and clean. The locker rooms are small, but lovely. All things you would need. Towels, combs, shampoos, hair dryers etc. Very nice. AND to top it off, a smoothie bar upstairs. This is a great marketing tool for clubs, and after a good sweat it's almost impossible to turn down. I got a smoothie, and as I was waiting I believe the owner (maybe manager) introduced himself and we chatted a bit.

The staff was the best part of Drill. Every person from the front desk girl, to the smoothie guy were extremely nice. This is key when you're in a member service industry. Even though the class wasn't the toughest for me despite my injuries, I would take another class here for a solid workout, the amenitites, and the extremely nice staff.

Great job Drill!
